    Upgrading to Office XP

    The story goes...

I currently have a PC that has an Office 97 upgrade installed. I want to purchase Office XP with Access. Seeing as its £450+ to buy it outright, would i be able to do this:

Install Office XP for students and teachers

    Install Access 2002 upgrade

This would give me a huge saving, i am a student so would qualify for the Office student pack.

    What does everyone think?

It may be worth hanging on - Office 2k3 is about to be released, so you could end up with an even better deal. Either cheaper XP, or 2k3 for pretty much the same money.

Having been a beta tester for 2k3 for the last 6 months, I'd say it's certainly worth waiting for

Cool, i will hang on then I will have to ask at my UNI anyway to see whther they are upgrading to 2k3 or not. If it isn't gonna happen for the forseeable future i will try and pick Office XP up cheap!

Whats in the newer versions that you need over the older version. Just curious?

I'm quite curious too; I use Office 97 and I've not yet seen any reason to splash out on a new version.

There are some differencies which are worthwhile if you use those features. Stuff like a new version of VBA and some minor formatting improvements. But for student I can't see a good reason.
