    Afterburner kills 8.1

    Weird issue.
Since the last lot of MS updates I've had to uninstall AB 4.1.1 as the the system just won't run with it loaded.

I've changed the driver up to 353.06 and rolled it back to 347.88 using DDU and it made no difference. As soon AB loads on boot the system hangs and eventually reboots to the lock screen.
Uninstalled AB - and calm is restored.

    Any ideas ?

    Re: Afterburner kills 8.1

Not that it will help, but I've got it running on both Win7 and Win10, albeit with DX9/10 cards, and older drivers (341.44 - that's as far as Nvidia is going to go for my cards).

Did you also re-install the Riva Tuner? It's NOT an update this time, but is still in the package, and perhaps it corrupted something?

No - I took it out.
Are there alternatives to AB anyone can recommend ?

I had problems with teamviewer and my antivirus so maybe try by disabling the antivirus 1st?

Same thing with lockups at the start screen.

    Re: Afterburner kills 8.1

    EVGA Precision
    Asus GPU Tweak
Sapphire Trixx (seems to be AMD only, which makes sense).
Various Gigabyte OC Utils, with OC Guru II being the most modern.

All seem to be based on the Riva Tuner, so your results may not change. Afterburner is supposed to be the most stable. As with all things, ymmv.
