Windows 7 wont boot - recent change on laptop

A customer has given me a laptop that wont boot, says because of a recent change. Seems to be Windows 7. Now I know I can use a repair option to try and repair it, but do I need to use the DVD that came with the computer or can I use any Windows 7 home premium?

I've just lost my Win 7 media

if you use that in a Win 10 upgrade does it automatically go back to Windows 7?

F8 doesn't work, F2 takes me into BIOS. Shift, F10 and F12 don't work either.

I used a standard Win 7 home premium disk to do a repair on it. It booted back up and then the customer forgot her password, but remembered it. All was good.
