    Windows 10 Home or Pro?

    Hi

Hopefully just a quick and easy one.

I want to download Win 10 Home to do a clean install using my 8.1 key (non-pro).

However, when I use the Win 10 media creation tool in Win 8.1 pro, it only gives the following options:

Windows 10 (which I presume is the pro version?)
    Windows 10 Home Single Language
    Windows 10 N

Do I select the Home version, or does the first cover both?

    Thanks

    Windows 10 Home Single Language

Re: Windows 10 Home or Pro?

"Windows 10" includes both Home and Professional editions, upon installation it will automatically install the corresponding edition of Windows 10 depending on the edition of the Windows 7/8/8.1 key you punch in.

"Windows 10 Home Single Language" is of course just Win 10 Home Edition with the language you chose in the drop down box prior to downloading.

"Windows 10 N" is as option 1 but without certain bundled media software to comply with European rules.

Thanks both. Option 1 gives the option to install pro or home.

Having downloaded the ISO yesterday and test installed today, the latest build shows 1511 - 10586.164 (via winver).

A guick google suggests it should be 10586.464?

I just ran winver on my PC (it's an old install of Win10 but I keep it updated weekly). Mine says I'm on version 1511, build 10586.494

maybe running windows update will bring your version number up.
