    Question BOINC on GTX1060

Does anyone know if there is much of a processing power difference between the 3GB & the 6GB versions of the GTX1060 when running CUDA workunits under BOINC?

Just wondering if it's worth the extra £30 or so.

The 3GB version has one SM cluster disabled, giving it 128 shaders - that's 10% - less shaders than the 6GB version. Given that GPGPU mostly utilises the arithmetic capability of the cared (i.e. the shaders), I suspect you'd see a 10% difference in throughput.

Whether the ~ 10% increase in performance is worth £30 to you is something only you can answer

    Cheers. :-)
10%, that makes good sense but I didn't have a clue if the extra 3GB would give a further performance hit or not.
It will be down to how much I have to spend in November.
