Wipeout HD
I'm sure its been discussed but couldn't find the thread on search, but have to say Wipeout HD is shaping up nicely for its release in April.
New trailer released. Also some nice screenies Glad they not gone overboard trying to change the fundamentals of the game. Just classic Wipeout with new tracks at ultra smooth 60fps in 1080p HD, crank the sound up and bring it on

Re: Wipeout HD
I think they're doing the right thing making it a PSN release. I can only see myself playing it in short bursts... not something I'd want to spend much on, but looks fun.

Re: Wipeout HD
I agree. Its one of those games that you just pick up and play and come back to from time to time, but great fun. (turn the music up load) Good idea being released on PSN, most rumours seem to price it tentatively at about £15. Looking forward now to the Online racing mode as well (i know a old work mate of mine we used to play split screen on is going to want to race me again)
they were the days. Going to be cool now playing online.

Re: Wipeout HD
I was always fairly disappointed with the various Wipeout releases, they were great fun in short doses, but I got bored very quickly.
It always seemed to me to be more of a game that the Sony marketers would have loved (demanded ?!), and they always got the hype right. Fancy graphics and sound, but a wee bit thin in terms of gameplay. |

Re: Wipeout HD
Some great new footage of the upcoming tracks. Vineta K looks especially cool - show here in Zone mode. Good sountracks and looks beautiful - even though this footage is in a "compressed" format. Makes me imagine how it will look in full 1080p

Re: Wipeout HD
sort of looking forward to it but I can't think what to make of it tbh...
8 tracks is a bit disappointing for a racing game... especially with blu-ray's storage capability... One of the tracks on the above links was pretty tiny aswell:\ as for the graphics I think it looks bland:\ there doesn't seem to be much going on colourwise just lots of bloody grey/blue and smoke/air particles... and the detail looks more like its been pixelated and anti-aliased to look smooth and next gen instead of being a higher poly count... saying that the city looks cool in the background on some of the above streams. Oh and I'm ALL about "Graphics DON'T make gameplay" but Wipeout is renound for frustration levels so impressive eye candy is important to keep you going back to master the races otherwise you get bored and angry and search for an alternative... It'll definitely be one for try before you buy on the demo and test the eye candy for yourself... and I'm honestly not biased I love wipeout big time... imo the 4th looked more impressive on a next-gen level from the ps1-2 leap... hope it looks more polished in the final piece as I would definitely get this... as the learning curve was steep from the start on the 4th!
