What PS3 To Get? Hi, After reading how mgs4 looks like it'll be a pretty sweet game, gonna get a ps3. Not sure what model to get though. i already have xbox 360 (and will probably use it for all games apart from ps3 only ones, due to xbox live), so was at first just going to get teh cheapest (40gb). But i've read in a couple of places just now that some versions of the ps3 are not fully backwards compatible (which isn't a big issue for me, as never play ps2 games any mre anyway) and some have less usb ports. are there any other "issues" with different ps3 versions? also, anyone know if there is going to be a mgs4/ps3 bundle in the uk? I read that there will be one in the US (with 80gb, IIRC). It also included a different controller -- what are the differences between the ps3 controllers? thanks

Re: What PS3 To Get? not 100% sure but: 40gb has no emulation so no backward support (100% sure) 40gb has less USB ports (i think) and as for controllers i think thier going to release the dualshock which could be the differnt controller youve mention'd. if its not that and im totally off the ball, its probabaly just a normal one with a nice shiny sticker on it! ![]() and for help on getting acheap one, worth checking FS threads on forums/sites e.t.c, choicesUK openbox products, play.com 40gb £275 for a brand new one then quidco @ 4% so about £10 cashback!

Re: What PS3 To Get? The 40Gb has 2 USB ports, the 60Gb has 4. 40Gb can only play PS1 games, 60Gb can do PS2 and PS1. 60Gb has memory card reader, 40Gb does not. They're the main differences. For me they're meaningless as I dont need any of those features. The dualshock pad can be bought on places like eBay and blahdvd, but its not officially out in the UK yet. Theres no word on a MGS4 bundle or on the 80Gb console being released in the UK.

Re: What PS3 To Get? The DualShock3 should be released pretty soon i hope, the Aussies have it now (Pal Region) i believe Sony may be waiting to clear down stocks of the older controller before its released. I thought a bundle deal had been announced, just can't find any links right now, but you know that they will seeing as its going to be massive for Sony, would be nice to see the Gunmetal Grey version in the bundle ![]() PS3 News: Gunmetal Grey PS3 bound for US - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

Re: What PS3 To Get? Yes, all games. My ps3 is 1 year and 5 months old now, i got an original 60g from the us for £300, its got the actuall emotion chip on board rather than being software emulation for ps2/ps1 backwards compatability, i find the card reader really useful with my psp and sony hd camcorder.

Re: What PS3 To Get? thanks. decided on a 40gb - only plan on using it for mgs when it comes out and (mainly) for playing blu ray. came through today - the (sixaxis) controller is very light! (esp compared to xbox ones)

Re: What PS3 To Get? IMHO the sixaxis feels like its made by fisher price, the Dualshock 3 atleast has a weighty feel to it. NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD

Re: What PS3 To Get? I didn't like the lightness of the Sixaxis either, at first I thought I was holding a display model! It also felt a bit smaller to me, but might have been my imagination (or something to do with the weight). I was very pleased to have the dualshock back in my hands.

Re: What PS3 To Get? I got the DS3 from some Amazon guy for the same price as a Sixaxis cost. Feels much more substancial, not to mention I'll probably end up with parkinsons or something! LOL! ![]() There are rumours of an 80GB version ... how true this is I don't know. It would make more sense to put a 120GB drive in as they are quite cheap.
