Like Guitar Hero, but better!

Was at my friends last night who has just come back from the states with the full rock band kit, 2x guitars, drums and mic. The Kit is all good quality, but the guitar's neck is in what can only be discribed as 70's computer beige (lovely!)

This is a fantastic game, especilly with 4 players we played for hours much to the annoyance of the neighbours I'm sure! My drumming skills are lacking somewhat, but it's still great fun.

I think this is due out in the uk on the 23rd of November.

I can second that, my friend got it imported from the states.

I was quite impressed by the addition of the drum set, I wasnt to sure what to expect for the money, but I wasnt disappointed. Quite easy to pick up playing it, although I struggled with the timing of the bass pedel. If i'm being critical however the drum kit makes to much noise and the drum pedal would get broken quite easily due to being plastic. The drum pads can be easily deadened though via mouse mats cut to fit.

The singing is a love or hate affair like singstar, and you can just hum along if you wanted, although that defeats the point somewhat..

The new guitar with its flush buttons I found difficult to play compared to the GH controllers with raised buttons, however it does feel a lot more solid so may just take a bit of getting used to!

My wife and I are going to buy Rock Band next week (pay day, and a nice bank holiday weekend to play it on!). I'm just wondering though - for those that have played it, is having all of the equipment essential to getting all the bonus parts out of the game?

We were just planning on getting the solus, an extra guitar hero wireless guitar, and using a USB microphone. Neither of us are particularly bothered about playing the drums.

Guitar hero controllers don't work with Rock Band, so you either buy the game with a guitar and another rock band controller or make do with just the one controller. Not 100% whether you need everything to get bonus gigs unlocked, I'll check with my friend later on.
