Damage modeling added to PS3’s Gran Turismo 5

Damage modeling added to PS3’s Gran Turismo 5
Well it is a feature that most GT fans have been crying out for, but it was finally confirmed at GamesCom. Gran Turismo will feature damage modelling and we have a great video to show you which proves this.

    disagree a little I'm afraid.

31 seconds, White imprezza stacks the blue one up the rear. Blue ones bonnet now lifts. The white one? Undamaged.

Where's the radiator damage that'd kill the engine through overheating? where did the doors mysteriously go from the blue one? How does the bonnet stay magically in the air? Anyone thats had that happen in real life would tell you it flaps back, cracks your windscreen and you don't carry on driving!

It's not damaged modeling; Its making bits of the car detachable. Nothing else.

Looks to me like a proof of concept video designed to demonstrate the damage modelling. The white Subaru looks immune to damage in order to show the damage effects on the blue car.

An Atlantean Triumvirate is now available in various eBook formats.

There's a good post on eurogamer about it, and the damage modeling is just bumpers falling off mostly, not scratches or other damage. Though it can affect the speed and performance of the car by losing its back bumper by huge amounts!

Play got it showing as 5th of March 2010, but I can't see that myself. Look how long it took for prologue to come out over here after it was released in Japan.

Play and Gameplay amongst others are well known for their placeholder dates. They are usually just plucked out of the air.

Wait for official word from Sony, which means you have to also disregard Kaz's game show comments until it actually goes gold.

You do know that you can get it on import as all PS3 games are multi-region. Its how i was playing Prologue with a DS3 2 months before the UK release. You just have to be brave with the menus

Official word from Sony is March 2010 release in Japan with Europe/US following shortly after. As with lots of other games, this date could change.

    Yep

I should have said official confirmation for Europe. March 2010 is the official Japanese data.
