    eduardo career finished?

    DISCUSS

imo that sickening and what makes things worse is that these so called arsenal players could not win the game for eduardo. what a disgrace. i dont blame gallas's response after the game kicking the addboard and sitting in the middle of the pitch

That picture is shocking. I was stunned to see that today, eduardo was a calm and collective guy. I hope his career doesn't end here, not just as arsenal but a football fan.

What happened today should happen to no player.

Some people seem to forget that it's a game.

    Re: eduardo career finished?

exactly. imo taylor should be banned from football for at least this whole season but it wont happen.

the most he will get is mis 3 games whil eduardo will miss a whole season and more. his the one that will suffer the most while taylor will be back in action in a couple of weeks playing and enjoying life as if nothing happened.

eduardo wont be walking for months and the phycological impact it will have on him will be the hard part. if that happened to me i dont know if i would ever step into a pitch again. i would be scared ****less. the fear will be there and thats why i beleive his career is finished.

even if he does some how come back he wont be the same player anymore. its realy a shame because he was an amazing player that i rated higher then ade IMO. but o well its ok to kick arsenal about to get a result.

I remember Roy Keane doing a similar thing to the Man City player a few years back which ended the player's career...and being proud of it in his book..and look where he is today..tackles like this one are sickening.

I never saw the incident but was following it on the radio and was very disappointed for Eduardo. Indeed a terrible tackle and it deserves more than a 3 match ban as it could be career finishing and 2 minutes into the game there was absolutely no need for a tackle like that .

jesus... that looked painful... what a horrible thing to do to someone. Looked like even his team mate was saying "wtf?" at him after he got up. Feel for Eduardo though - that's gonna take some recovery.

So much for Croatia in Euro 08

Taylor should be kneecapped. In both legs. With a 12 gauge.

Awful, awful tackle, in my opinion taylor should be banned for at least a season.

I don’t support Arsenal but I do hope Eduardo recovers soon as he is a quality player. Another sad thing is that hes going to miss euro 2008

thing is there are loads of tackles like this, its just this one had horrific consequences.

I really feel for dudu, any it seemed to shock a hell of alot of players. I hope his career isn't over, especially his arsenal one.

I agree with Raz, it wasn't a 'terrible' tackle, the consequence of it was just very unfortunate.

Hopefully with Eduardo being a fit individual, his recovery will be relativley swift (still a number of months though) and hopefully he can get back to playing football.

    Re: eduardo career finished?

even if he does get back to playing football his confidence will be low. heck if that happened to me and i recovered quickly i would probably retire from football all together because of been scared of any tackles flying into me.

thats the thing it looked like a normal tackle with studs but come on man these such tackles should not be allowed period. you dont tackle people like that in park game or even in a sunday league. thats bang out of order.

my prayers are with eduardo. hope you recover fast, and come back strong. if you do come back strong both mentaly and physicly you are a legend in my book

I hope thats a joke because its a little OTT.

If he comes back (which I hope he does and asap), he is good enough to and at a high enough club with enough support to rebuild his career.

It was a bad tackle and Taylor should be banned for a significant amount of time, but there wasn't any malice in his challenge and it wasn't a terrible tackle either. I see far worse week in week out down the Liberty Stadium and in other games in general. He was just very clumsy and the sequence of events just conspired and resulted in what happened. Football is a contact sport, if you can only tackle whilst standing up then the game will die. Tackling was far worse and much harder pre 1980's than it is today.

All in all it was a terrible day for Arsenal. The ref had a terrible game from what I saw on MOTD. The free kick that lead up to Birmingham scoring and the penalty they had should not have been and Arsenal should have had a pen when Adebayor was pulled back. I also agree with what Hansen said on MOTD about the reaction Gallas had to the pen. I know it was an emotional day, but thats not how a captain should act.

    Re: eduardo career finished?

yea today wasnt arsenals day and to make things abit worse, last week sagna's brother passed away and therefore thats why he missed the game with manu the other day.

also some good news. any doctors here can share some light on how long he will be out for based on this info?

A snippet from a Croatian source.

    QUOTE
"According to latest reports that were given to Boro Primorac by Gary Lewin, Arsenal's physio, as well as being the physio of the English national team, Eduardo only has a broken fibula, ie front bone in the leg. The tibia has remained intact. Lewin added that the injury looked a lot worst than it actually is."

The article goes on to state that Eduardo's wife has confirmed that he has a broken fibula and that the operation went without complications. Further tests will be carried out next week while he will be in a cast for 6 weeks and then start rehab

    Re: eduardo career finished?

Djibril Cisse has had his leg broken 3 times, but he keeps on getting back up. The of mentally getting back onto the pitch shouldn't be too much of an obstacle - having the mental strength to stay in control while you're recovering is a different matter.

Regarding the some of the comments here, dear God you should hear yourselves. Arsene Wenger has had the good grace and strength to come out and say he was wrong with his initial comments calling for a massive ban, and he's famous for never ever doing that, and I think some of you need to too. It's wasn't a malicious tackle, it was clumsy. It happens unfortunately. Has done for years. It's why players wear shin-pads. Tragic and shocking, yes. Red card offence, yes. Malicious or intentional, in this case, no, not in my opinion.
