A second hand Orange Clockwork or P7 would suit you down to the ground.

Check this one out. Mongoose Tyax Comp 2007 - £199.

It's just like my Tyax Elite but doesn't have disc brakes. Fantastic bike
Oh, and i'm 6'2" but 16stone so the bike will support you fine

If you're after something for around town and the occasional light-offroad path, you'd probably get more out of a hybrid of sorts.

Sizing wise, maybe a 21" for a mountain bike and 21" or 23" on a hybrid. It's always worth trying a bike first. A lot of people are guilty of buying too bigger bike. With modern geometry, a significant amount of the saddle height should be in the seat post rather than the frame. Remember, on bikes with an a-head system or adjustable quill stem, adjusting the reach to suit is also easy.
