Want to get fit, try this.....
Hey all,
To build up the picture, I regularly visit the gym but it's mostly to do weights; I needed a way to build up my fitness levels. On a Hexus meet, I met up with Mat (mgh0) who recommended a martial arts academy not too far away from me. Since then I've enrolled and joined Muay Thai Boxing and Combat Submission Wrestling. From my first lesson I could tell I was going to be hooked. I can safely say this is the most intensive fitness work outs I've ever done and is superb for building your fitness levels. The Thai Boxing can be customised to be as contact orientated as you wish; for me personally I like the extra adrenalin buzz of being hit as I feel it pushes you further. The wrestling is full contact and immensely good fun. It really highlighted how much skill there is in this sport. Overall, after a session I return home totally knackered. However in my opinion it's a great feeling to go to sleep feeling physically tired rather than just mentally tired. Now I'm a bit bruised and battered but that's all part of the fun. For anyone who lives around Stourbridge, Dudley, Oldbury come join! Leon |

I love martial arts too... Its a great, fun way to stay fit, and its very useful to know too!
My advice would be to not to go all out hardcore before you have a bit of experience, as you can get easily injured... I have been out for the last year and counting with an ACL injury

Re: Want to get fit, try this.....
I used to do Muai thai as well, twice a week, it was such a good workout, and Id get home and then literally have to go to bed because every muscle in my body was refusing to work any more. Sadly I had to quit due to an unrelated injury and now much as I would like to I dont have the time. It sounds like a lame excuse, but the only thai boxing club/gym near me is a good 25 minutes walk on top of a 20 minute bus ride and I just cant afford the time as Im in my final year at Uni now. Ill defintely start up again when I get the chance though.
