    Hard luck boys

My club (Everton) go out of the UEFA cup on penalties after a valiant attempt to repair the first leg damage.

You may have gone out boys but you still did us proud.

Unfortunately Spurs suffered the same fate.

Good luck to Bolton and Rangers tomorrow.

I am so sick to the back teeth with English teams and the English nation team going out on pens. What is it? Something in the training methods, the culture, or are we just 'unlucky' all the time?

I was watching the Everton match, and I knew Spurs had gone to pens as well, first thing I thought - both English teams will go out. And they did.

Its getting to the stage that FIFA and UEFA might as well just change the rules - if an English team goes to penalties, end the game and award the game to the other team. It wont change the result, and we'll get on the coach a bit quicker.

We played the Italians off the pitch tonight, they hung on for pens, and yet another penalty disaster unfolds.

One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Also that match took place outside the normal footballing universe. 3-0 down to Milan at half time and it goes to pens? Never again sunshine.

Still proves that it can happen.

What I dont get is that most of the players in premiership teams arent british anyway, and seem to do great in shootouts in international matches. Managers arent british either so I doubt its the coaching. Is it just the stigma of being a british team that means we have to lose on penalties?

Any side that employs Jermaine Jenas and then expects him to score a penalty when it really counts is simply being naive. Even as a Gooner I wanted Spurs to succeed because they deserve it, but when I saw him walk up to the spot as the 5th taker I just started laughing because there was no way he was going to score. If I'd had a chance to bet a decent sum of money on it I would have, it was a dead cert poor lad.

Didn't see the Everton game. Shame they both went out.

    Hello mr funny guy.

At least Everton reached/surpassed their season targets while the red sh*** have underachieved and been crisis headlining all season.

Being owned by a bunch of DIC's may help you eh?

If I were a LFC fan I wouldn't be gloating over the Toffees until that Premier League 4th spot is safe.

It's my job to hate Arsenal and yours to hate Spurs so what you say above is appreciated.

Quite why Jenas (and Chimbonda - the defender - to some extent) stepped up I'll never know. Look at those who did score though, O'Hara and Zokora. Hopefully that buffoon Malbranque is getting some stick for bottling it.

Both (all) clubs played well, though neither really deserved a win.
