Re: Champions league Thread
I was born in Northern Ireland. Does that mean I'm not allowed to support any English club?
I've supported Liverpool since I was 4 years old. Well, coerced by my cousins and brother. But still, since not knowing any better (you don't reallly know much of anything at 4 years old) I've been supporting them now for 32 years. Plus, I lived on the Wirral for 16 years and worked in Liverpool for several of those. Now I live in Gotham City and there aren't many Premiership teams here. But just because I moved elsewhere shouldn't mean I have to change my allegiance. Liverpool fan all my life and will stay that way till the end of my days, no matter where I live. Oh, and Liverpool will win the Champions League. Sorry, but the top teams may whoop us in the Prem but when it comes to those European Cup nights no one in England comes close to the Mighty Reds. Bring. It. On... Last edited by Lord Midas; 18-03-2008 at 05:25 PM. Reason: speeling mistaek |

Re: Champions league Thread
I'm loving this "you can only support the team local to where you live/grew up" thing. I'm a Celtic fan, born in York, grew up in and around Yorkshire. I've been following the Bhoys for around 15 years or so. For me supporting the team is about more than what you win (granted the SPL is pretty much a 2 and a half horse race, which we're currently not doing great in) but making a decision and being there through the rough and the smooth.
Anyways, if anyone's interested in my opinion I suspect we're on for a Liverpool vs Man Utd or Barcelona final, probably with Man Utd edging it (if they make it to the final). |

Re: Champions league Thread
Man Utd vs Liverpool would make a great final for obvious reasons.
Barcelona vs Arsenal would also be a great final, replay of a few years ago where I think Arsenal could and maybe should have won it. |

Re: Champions league Thread
Not writing anyone off, merely giving my opinion on who I think will be in the final. There's a big difference, and you'd be amazed of the objectivity a little impartiality can give you.
EDIT: y'know what? After the attitude Josh seems to take to anyone who doesn't say "Arsenal are the best team in the world ever" I actually want them to end up with nothing now. |

Re: Champions league Thread
Josh - I personally have nothing against Arsenal. I'm not a fan of any team in the Premier League, so I like to think I can see things with a bit of perspective.
It may just be me, but I personally feel that it's you and your posting style that people take exception to rather than the fact that you're an Arsenal fan - you look to be the only Arsenal fan on these boards that posts in the style you do (in my opinion at least) As for the "most hated" title - that seems to be very much M Wenger's stance too. Maybe it's true, personally I did not see the incident. |

My follow up/edit was to point out that you're the only Arsenal fan on here that seems to get people's backs up, and your insistence on doing so is only tarring Arsenal FC in my eyes.
Thus far the only thing that really irked me about Arsenal was M. Wenger and his selective vision, you clearly suffer the same condition. |
