Re: Anyone fish?
Ooo no, not boilie boys. Thats not fishing, its an excuse to conduct some self abuse in the countryside, strange noises coming from those odd umbrella tents.
Back to the original question, yes I do fish. Tends to be lightweight river / stream fishing with not a trolley, trailer, wheelbarrow in sight. Mainly float on a modern rod and centerpin reel. Currently looking at getting a travel rod that can double as a float or spinning rod. Fancy a bit of lightweight spinning for perch. Also do the odd bit of fly. And looking forward to the coming season. |

Re: Anyone fish?
I've not been for years.
Used to go to a lot of local places hunting bream, carp and a few other lovely specimens but after a while getting up early was a bit of a chore. |

I'm a very keen course fisherman meself
![]() Now the weather seems to have settled, I get out at every opportunity. There are around a dozen or so good fisheries within a short driving distance of Chester (no more than 20 miles). There's three within two miles in fact (Ruddy Pond, Leicester's Lane, and 'Suicide Lake') ![]() I use different methods, depending on the circumstances/fishery... i.e. the pole (I have 4 of 'em, plus 4 'margins' poles ), carp waggler, carp rod, +/or quiver tip ![]() My favourite method would have to be 'floating crust'/dog biscuit. It's such an adrenaline rush, watching the fish come up an snaffle the bread/dog biscuit ![]() |

Re: Anyone fish?
Been a long time angler (28 years in fact, god i'm old) there's nothing like spending a day by the water, watching the wildlife go about its business. I've done the carp fishing routine, got bored with it in the end, sold everything. Nowadays i'm happy to catch anything that comes by, saying that, the 3Ib+ Perch i caught last month was just fantastic, think i had more of a thrill with that than any of the lumps i've caught before
![]() This season i'll be fishing on Newport Pagnell's waters. Its where i learnt to fish in the early 80's. Nice going back to where it all started. The fish have grown on massively, saw a small shoal of massive Roach in the margins, i intend on having one of them on the bank this season. Having the best Barbel river on my doorstep makes the river a no brainer, this coming season will see me spending plenty of time wandering the banks looking for big Barbel & Chub (7Ib+) |

Re: Anyone fish?
Best and Only Pike I caught myself was unusual and unexpexted considering the gear I was using. I was fly fishing with a lure in the margins and bang did not know what hit me I knew there was some big Pike in there as we had drained the reservior when my local still water decided to become a Trout fishery. OMG did I have some fun i was all over the lake at one point I thought I was going to run out of backing line. Anyway managed to get it in on 10lb leader a nice fat 12lb Pike on a fly fishing ROD!
But I do enjoy going to Linear Fisheries and going for the Big Carp... |

Re: Anyone fish?
One swirly morning on Hollinworth Lake me and my mate (Bream fishing) managed to attract a swarm of pike into our swim, they were literally grabbing our roach from our hooks as we were reeling them in, and were randomly swirling on the top. Its quite surreal to watch a pike tail and top fin moving around the surface, like a Carp/Shark on a hot day. Luckily we have some spinning tackle out and my mate managed to bag a 5lb'er right under his feet, and im talking 5 foot out MAX! |
