I really ought to get mine serviced, I tend to do it once before winter and once after. However, with the weather we've been having I think it's going to need it sooner rather than later, especially with the salt on the roads right now.

Well I had it serviced, rear wheel bearing was dead. Cost a grand total of £35. Happy.

Muddy and windy but good good fun!

I'm currently riding a Orange Sub 5 SE which has been built up from scratch - great bike for singletrack and the odd bit or 4x messing about

Had a few upgrades recently like a new 08 Fox RP23 and a couple of other little bits - Does me well though for all that I throw at it

    Whats everyone else riding?
I have a Trek 4500.. its pretty good. I use it for work and occassionally ride over some bumps in the local park.. its good

This is MrCat with a helmet cam doing a bit of downhill in Ballaugh Plantation here on the IOM:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8mgF...ay&thread=1471

This is some of the hardcore downhill boys at a race in Arrasey Plantation (I think they're on a practice run) - Vid is good, but the music is rubbish and probably NSFW....

    http://www.iomdh.co.uk/media/arrasey...tcam_pb_01.htm

And finally this is MrCat again, with a run down the back section of the new purpose built singletrack in South Barrule Plantation - the whole loop's about 5km and is very nice

    Re: Mountain Bike thread?

    Well I've managed it again.

Juicy 7's - killed the front brake somehow. The lever doesn't snap back into position after braking so it's been removed and sent back for repair.

That's 3 sets of hydraulics that have died on me now one way or another. Not having much luck.

Oh - and commuting with just a rear brake is 'interesting'

    Re: Mountain Bike thread?

^^Truth^^ The Hopes on my old bike whilst dated, were solid and dependable. They have never ever needed anything more than new pads and topping up/bleeding once when I stupidly let all the juice out... Just hope (sic) that the Hayes units on the new one are as reliable

    Re: Mountain Bike thread?

I killed a set of Stroker's within 3 months. Main seal went, and you have no idea how much of a **** they were to bleed.

Not that I'd worry Tumble, I'm just the break killing master.

Finally got the bike out today , bit of a disaster though- chain came off and by the time I got it back on I was black with oil.

    Re: Mountain Bike thread?

There's a way of getting the chain back on without even touching it Just shift the front mech as if you're going for the top ring and pedal furiously, it'll wind itself back onto the rings

    Re: Mountain Bike thread?

i got to get mine sorted got a 99 scott octane frame but there is a small crack under the seatpost tubing and my 01 junior "T"s need some slighter harder springs as they are a bit soft now have not been offroad for a couple of months now.

Sadly round here there are no proper trails.

Up in the North of Scotland in Moray. Forest trails are about 8-10 miles long . There is a series of events called '10 over the Ben' held by 'No Fuss Events' in Scotland each year and the last couple of years they have included ' Moray Monster trails ' as one of the four events. The idea is to see how many circuits 'your team' or individual effort can complete in a given time of 10 hours. The first time this event was held up here I was involved in providing a 'radio net coverage' for it and found it quite interesting. Managed last year as well and took about 400 pics mainly of start and finish area's . Will look them out and post a few . I included a couple of pics of the local river as I spent a lot of time 'walking' and 'biking' along it's banks as well. If you type 'No Fuss Events' into your browser it should lead you to some more info on the other events in this series - held down in the South of Scotland'-Fort William area etc. Took some pics of the track at the Ski Centre down there earlier this year - awesome -will post .
