    Anyone here study any?

I'm currently training for my 1st Dan in Jujitsu

Looking to start a second afterwards, any suggestions?

    Re: Martial arts

Used to do Jujitsu, but sadly life got in the way and I couldn't keep it up with.

Planning to take it up sometime in the future again and kick Lowes ass though

Have done a few other martial arts, but Jujitsu was by far my favourite.

    Re: Martial arts

Jujitsu here as well. I studied TKD for 4-5 years, then did a mixed martial art that was pretty much TKD with a bit of Jujitsu; that gave me the taste for it and so after moving house I made sure I found a decent Jujitsu club.

    Re: Martial arts

Bando, Burmese martial art - very effective and practical but still has the philosophy of a martial art. Only one teacher that I know of though in the Uk so unless you live near London you will find it difficult to train in it. It's more popular in France though. He's doing a seminar in Glasgow too 2-3rd July. Link below if interested

I would strongly suggest pencak silat, its great for the mind and body. It would be hard to find somewhere to learn it though

    Re: Martial arts

Try Brazilian ju jitsu. More 'real world' than traditional japanese jujitsu.Would also recommend Muay Thai as a good standup style to balance out the largely groundfighting techniques of jiujitsu.

I practice Kendo, it's been a year since I started.

Have a chance to take my Ikkyu next month or wait till March and pass it for sure. Still not decided what I should do, all depends if I can learn Kata 3 good enough and improve one or two things.

    Re: Martial arts

Martial art is good to reduce belly fat.

Doing martial arts for weight loss

It's no coincidence that gyms, personal trainers and producers of exercise videos and DVD's are now heavily incorporating training techniques and exercises from a wide variety of martial arts in their workouts.

Boxercise, Tae Bo, Cardio-Kickboxing, Kung Fu Aerobics, and personal trainers using punching bags, focus mitts and kicking pads in their sessions are just a couple of examples of how martial arts training is being used in cardio workouts for fitness and weight loss.

Because martial art training is typically high intensity and usually lasts for at least an hour in most cases, it burns a maximum number of kilojoules or calories per workout and is therefore great for anyone who wants to lose weight and lose it fast.

    Re: Martial arts

You say it lasts an hour at least, we used to train for 2 hours, since the club closed tho I'm struggling to find somewhere that'll train for the same amount of time, most seem to be an hour or less.

Yes your right, the place were I started was the same, we trained at least 2 hours. Now its hard to find clubs like this.

Plus the training itself at my old club was 'old school/traditional', not like the health and safety nonsense they have now.
