The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. U.K (The Smashers)

I really found the title quite amusing but I was hoping for the comeback 2

Be interesting how this one works out, despite UK being pretty poor when it comes to wrestling (compared to Americans) they tend to do fairly well in the series with the likes of Ross Pearson, Bisping and Ogle in the current US series (funnily enough.... all northern )

It will be interesting to see who is in it as the talent pool in the UK hasn't been tapped. Many ignored TUF try-outs as it was seen as an unearned route to the big show. That perception has changed so there could be some good fighters. The only problem is that many are untested, in that the good look great against journey men.
I have no clue to the talent in Australia.

Looking forward to this. Just cause it'll be different from the USA show. That was the only reason I liked the Brazil one so much. Theyve done so many in the USA they've kinda drained the talent pool. At least compared to some other countries.

I think the Aussies will struggle to put a half credible team together - I suspect they're still at the level of single discipline kickboxers / ju-jitsuists, and not rounded MMA fighters. UK is going to be that critical few years ahead of them in terms of ongoing MMA training centres like Wolfslair and Rough-house. UK vs Japan would've been better IMO, though language probs would've made it a difficult thing to do TV wise.

I don't think they will have much issue, if you look at some of the fighters coming out of Australasia there are some pretty decent up and comers, then if you factor in things like exposure to Rugby they are likely to have some half decent takedowns. Brits are pretty one dimensional fighters too with boxing/kickboxing being the main discipline with some mma thrown in (just look at people like Bisping and Hardy, neither are good with takedowns and I've only ever seen Hardy be half decent in submission defense against GSP, and some of that was just willpower!)

Don't get me started on the language barrier....

A northern accent seems to require subtitles on the US showings!
