    London to Brighton Cycle

Anyone doing the London to Brighton cycle next month? I had completely forgot I had signed up until I got my race number through the post the other day!

Should be good fun if I can get logistics sorted.

    Re: London to Brighton Cycle

My father did it a few years ago and went on to do London to Paris. Loved it, even if he did end up in a few pubs on the way!

    Re: London to Brighton Cycle

    Well did it yesterday.

Due to the logistics of it all ended up being a very long day... No bikes on trains allowed so I took my bike to London on Saturday and left it at a friends house. Meant I had to leave home at 5:30 on Sunday morning to get down to his, pick up bike, cycle 8 miles to the start point in time for my 8:30am start.

Took forever to get out of London, majority of streets weren't closed so we were fighting with buses and cars but once we got out I managed to get into a good pace upto the 22 mile mark where some huge accident had happened. Not sure on the specifics but all of us (people as far as I could see in front and behind) were kept at a standstill for 45~ minutes before we decided to take a 2 mile detour.

Total time was 4hr 40min including getting stuck behind people walking their bikes and the big wait due to accident which I'm happy about - esp as my new tyres didn't arrive so I was doing on my mountain bike with fat knobblies on.

That last hill is a killer but really enjoyed pushing myself.

After finishing it was a couple mile ride over to the bus/lorry to get back to the start point and then 12 mile ride through London on the other end. 75 miles in total.

Today my legs are fine, my arse is tender and my neck hurts Bring on the 74mile off-road version in Sept
