Maybe we could have an agreed sign up and keep people in the loop on success and total fails.
Just a thought.. PeterB thought it up.. and I think he may have a point
We need.. a reason... to run.
this might be it?

Yes, great idea! It should be supportive, a bit like a virtual gym buddy, Mutual support and encouragement, and a bit of commiseration when you have an 'off' training session.

Any chance we could use it for other types of exercise as well? I point blank will not run, but I do cycle, climb rocks, and sometimes walk/ramble. If there was a "share your workouts" thread I'd be quite up for occasionally dropping in the odd bike ride, or photies of whichever rock face I've just fallen off!
Don't know if the runners would be willing to share their thread or if we should have different ones for different sports? I guess try one thread then break it up if it gets too cluttered?
I'm not sure how to work it ...
I think we need some kinda tracking software for most of it so we can share screenies or links
at least miles and speed etc
so, yes to biking, and I tihnk Tumble is into that BIG TIME.. but how to make a thread that.. works
Any ideas?

Nice idea. The way I do it is that I have my friends on Endomondo, so we can see/encourage/mock each other, even in real time.
To motivate yourself, one of the best ways is to pay for an event. Esp a team event.
I'm in.
One can never stop saying Thank You
I'm up for a tracking thread of some kind. As we spoke about in the other thread I use Endomondo which gives you some nice stats month by month:
I 100% agree with Fuddam, the best motivator is signing up for stuff and even roping other people into it. I went from doing NO exercise to the above due to signing up to Tough Mudder and having to get my arse into shape. I also did London to Brighton last month which was great fun.
Now I've got a couple 10km's lined up (http://www.thegladiatorgames.co.uk/ in Hertford which looks hilarious fun) and the 74 mile London to Brighton off-road cycle in Sept which will keep me moving for now
All of us that did Tough Mudder this year are signed up for next already, it was a huge motivator for all of us... Hell look at my team mate!

There's a free Android app called My Fitness Pal (it's free on Android so I assume it's free on iPhone as well) that I used to keep track of my training when I was really on it. You can add friends, track miles run/walked/cycled and calories burned, input calorie intake for the day and weight etc. etc. and it pumps out your stats for the day/week/month.
It doesn't take mileage straight from a pedometer app or anything but as long as you're honest with yourself it can be rather useful. Even more so I imagine if you've got a few mates on there as a sort of yardstick but I only ever used it for myself.
Strava is awesome for tracking running/cycling and it allows you to create a club which would allow hexus people to see each others runs
Right.. I was thinking something Forum-centric... but it might not work like that

I use endmondo also!
Forum-centric is I think is a good idea - Just a post "I just did XX miles in YY time running/cycling/poledancing" but its good to be able to either click through or snip more data.
Information on how it went, what you found hard and asking for any advice easily added underneath and discussed as required
