    Action camera needed

    Hi,
I'm looking for an action camera and I did research about devices available on the market. I need something small, light and aerodynamic. And I found lots of positive reviews about something called Drift Stealth 2. If there are actual users of this camera, please share your opinions with me. Is it good for motorcycle riding?

    Thanks in advance

I have a GoPro 3 and thats great, I also have the older version one of these:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chilli-Techn...lli+technology

It is great about the size of a small led torch, takes great video, microphone is a bit naff for wind noise, found it improved a bit when I covered the microphone hole with a bit of tape.

    1080P @ 60 fps?

If so I'd look at the new offerings from Go Pro - they're actually a good price for what they are

My favourite motorcycle helmet cam is the Contour, the Drift comes second and GoPro third.

I like the Contour because it's streamlined, easily turned on and off with gloved hands and has a laser for getting the mounting position right.

The Drift is also streamlined but not as easily operated with gloved hands, it does have a remote that can be attached to handlebars for this reason, but is a faff moving from one bike to another. The built in display also adds to the cost and complexity.

My main complaint with the GoPro is that it isn't streamlined at all, it looks silly attached to a helmet and draws unwanted attention. Video quality is great though.

A mate of mine bought a Mobius action cam for sking, at was really impressed with the quality for the money (about £60). There's a review here:

It's available from both Amazon and Ebay sellers.

    Re: Action camera needed

I don't think the Mobius would make a good motorcycle helmet cam; the basic package doesn't include a helmet mount, it's impossible to use with thick gloves on and it's not water proof without a 3rd party case. With a decent helmet mount and a waterproof case, it'll all cost as much as an entry level Contour, Drift or GoPro.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Mobius, I have three. Two of which I have semi-permanently mounted in my car, the third Mobius only ever comes out on dry days.

I hate cube-shaped cameras so say goodbye to GoPro. I'm also not convinced about Contour. But could you write something more about Drift? I would use it rather for longer rides, not for short shots, so problem with operating in gloves wouldn't be a problem at all. Some advice and information from experienced user?

    Re: Action camera needed

What makes you say that about the Contour? Out of the many helmet cameras I've used, it along with the Drift have been the only motorcycle helmet cameras I've been happy with. I'm actually still using a Contour ROAM for my daily commute which I bought over three years ago, I take the Contour 2+ out on weekend rides with the ROAM as a spare when I run all the spare batteries down.

    I ran a Drift Ghost for a time and it gets a stamp of approval from me. Briefly;

    - Mounting it is really easy if you've got someone to help using the built in display or a smartphone using the WiFi app.
    - The mounting system itself is robust, the quick release is handy
    - Both the Drift and Contour cameras have rotatable lenses to get the angles right, this lets you mount the camera in any orientation and still have the video the right way up.
    - The Drift Ghost battery is removable, useful for long outings.

I think you should still consider the Contour cameras, the brand isn't as popular as Drift or GoPro but I think functionally they're the best motorcycle helmet cameras available. Otherwise, if not the Contour, my suggestion would be the Drift, particularly the Ghost.

Have you considered a Xiaomi Yi? The video is pretty good, can get a waterproof case and are quite cheap. Can be even cheaper via Gearbest rather than amazon.
