    Re: Hdd

Probably not, as the drives are usually pretty well shielded afaik. I would make a backup on your PC, wipe the drives then put the data back, this time keeping it off the sub

I.m sure a real expert will help soon.

    Welcome to HEXUS !

Well, I can't say it's something I'd do. I'm no expert, but I would feel that it's tempting fate. Why push your luck?

Thread moved to a more relevant forum, by the way. You're much more likely to get a technical response in a technical forum than the Welcome forum which, as it's description say, isn't for asking questions.

    Should be fine

The only magnets powerful enough to scrub data from a drive platter are laboratory degaussers or those used by government agencies to wipe bits off media. "In the real world, people are not losing data from magnets," says Bill Rudock, a tech-support engineer with hard-drive maker Seagate. "In every disk," notes Rudock, "there's one heck of a magnet that swings the head."

    Re: Hdd

I would be more worried about physical damage from the sub shaking the drive than from magnetic effects, but even then the data is probably more at risk from you accidentally dropping the drives whilst moving them somewhere safer

I would probably invest in some sort of cheap case to protect them tbh, just to avoid things being dropped or spilled on them.
