SSD - How should I go about this?

    Hey guys,

I'm planning a new build and will be starting it very soon (hopefully next week depending on Ivy Bridge and nVidias "announcement" this weekend). At present I have a 64Gb Crucial M4 SSD sitting in my old PC but from what I've read the bigger the SSD the faster they seem to be. So my question is what should I do in regards to my storage set up in my new gaming rig. Should I keep the M4 and use it for W7, then grab a 128//256Gb SSD for my games and a 1//2Tb HDD for media or would I see a bigger benefit from having windows on the bigger faster SSD?

I'm stumped with which way to go guys, please guide me to SSD bliss

I doubt the speed difference between the 64Gb SSD and the 128 or 256 would be very noticeable on boot. Unless you have a LOT of games why not buy a larger SSD and sell the 64 to help with the cost ?

one main question is how much space do you currently use for windows and games? i'd probably look at the new faster ssd boot option with 1tb media/docs drive

if you're keeping the old system then maybe just leave the old ssd where it is? or overflow for games

By larger how big do you mean? I wasn't wanting to spend more than £250 on my SSDs so even if I could sell the M4 it wouldn't give me enough to get a bigger one.

I mean that a single 128Gb M4 will give you plenty of room for W7 and a couple of games. Everything else can go on the HDD.

TBH I don't know how big Vista 64 is but it fits easily on the 64Gb M4 with Office and my anti-virus software so I would expect W7 to be the same.

When it comes to games I have loads on my Steam Account and then more on disk but I don't have everything installed at any given time. Like most people I go through phases of what games I'm in to, at the moment I have around 200Gb of games installed and ready to play.

I was thinking that I could always pick up a 2.5" SSD enclosure and keep the old M4 as a high end portable drive for taking games or media over to friends.

Sure. Sounds like a good idea.
I have a 120Gb and it's big enough for W7, Office, and BF3 and is only 2/3 full.

Or a 2nd 64Gb and RAID them for faster speed as well as capacity
