    mSATA SSD's Advice

Been looking at getting a new laptop for family and some of the laptops allow you to install an mSATA SSD into them. Looking at using the SSD for a boot drive with everything else stored on the normal 2.5" hard drive.

But so far the only mSATA SSD's I can find are the OCZ Nocti 60Gb (£65):

and the Kingston SSDNow mS100 (£82):

Really I wanted somthing like the Micron C400 or the Samsung PM830 but they are OEM only at the moment. Anyone got any experience with mSATA SSD's or know about any new drives coming out over summer?

    Re: mSATA SSD's Advice

I'd suggest for you to wait for the Micron/Crucial/Samsungs as I reckon they'll be good VFM and offer good performance whereas I feel the Kingston and OCZ ones don't offer good enough performance/storage for their prices.

There was another mSATA SSD I looked at but I can't really remember the name, I'll google around.

EDIT: Found it, it's the "MyDigitalSSD" series. Better VFM IMO.

It seems your right my best bet is just to wait it out.

The crucial M4 are now available in scan

    Getting better value
Was looking at one to go in a GA Z68 mobo, just to boot from and use up the port!
