In summary of the results, Samsung 840 seems better...
Hi Kirano
Many thanks for the info and link (very handly to know :-) Hmmm They seem to be similar in the result but Samsung does seem to win more thou Hmmmmm.
Many thanks

Yeah the Samsung should be ideal for gaming.
I was on the fence myself but then went for the Samsung due to the reviews and the Amazon lightning deal.
Out of those, the Samsung is far better to my knowledge. There are better drives than the 840, like the OCZ vector (better performance over time) - but the cost increases rapidly.
The OCZ vector does outperform the 840, but look at the whole picture. Reliability must be considered too. Samsung have control over design and development of both the memory and the controller. As an overall concept, this means they designed the whole of the drive architecture from the ground up.
If the 830 was anything to go by, and the reviews on the majority of serious sites are, then the 840 is a winner, Especially the 840 pro.

Hi Apex...
If you can get a samsung 830 (as they are being phased out & replaced by the 840) get one as they are the best all round drive atm... The samsung 840 uses TLC nand, its cheaper & the life of this nand is shorter than the 830 MLC nand but your likely upgrade before it dies.
I'm in the same boat as you, it will be mainly for BF3 & stuff. I can get myself past the samsung 840 pro.
I really can't see that paying extra for the Pro version will have any effect on gaming.
Neither! Get the Samsung 830 if you can. It uses a much higher quality NAND than in the 840, and with many retailers clearing them out for the 840, prices are competitive. The 830 outperforms the 840, but not the 840 pro.
Depends on usage, while the 830 may have superior NAND it has a worse controller.
On a typical consumer workload it is more likely that the 840 will perform best.
The 840 pro is definitely better than the M4 but the non pro version is pretty similar, cant go wrong either way but personally i'd go 840 though i have heard a lot of good things about the M4's.
I have an M4, bought a while ago on Today Only, and I'm very happy with it. I doubt whether any of these options will disappoint.
I have the Samsung 840 Pro and it is a great Drive and very fast. Previously had 2 x 120gb Corsair Force GT in raid and this feels a lot snappier.
I have done a lot of research on those drives. I would go for the m4. The 840 looks good on paper and has passed many reviews but it still is the first TLC nand ssd
