    Crucial M500 !!

    successor to the M4

Crucial had two new hardware innovations to show off at CES 2013. As a successor to the very well known M4 Series, the company introduced M500 series of SSDs.
The M500 Series will come with with 120, 240, 480 and 960GB storage capacities. What’s also interesting is that according to bcchardware, the unit with the 960GB storage capacity will be launching with a sub-$600 price tag.

no specs as yet but awesome

placing bets it`ll use the 88SS9187 controller

    Re: Crucial M500 !!

Hope it will be reliable at least as the M4 and a bit faster too.

BTW, when is SATA4 coming out? Anybody working on the specifications? < Faster SSD needs faster bus.

Should I put off buying an M4 as this will likely push the price of them down? Want to get an SSD as soon as possible, but no deals seem hot enough.

How much is your budget? If it is less, like for what you could afford a 64GB SSD, then don't bother to wait, I say.
If it is for something more substantial, like a 240-256GB SSD, then I would say, wait.

    Crucial M500 SSD

Aye, controller will be Marvell 88SS9187 (like the one in Plextor M5 Pro) with 20nm Micron MLC NAND flash chips.

Sizes from 120GB to 960GB. The 960GB should cost $600, what would make 0,625 USD/GB.

They will be available in 2.5", mSATA and M.2.

    M.2. will be 480GB maximum.

2.5" will come to the market in the first quarter, mSATA and M.2. in the second quarter, all with 3 year warranty.
