nforce 630a RAID not working in OS despite installed drivers

I'm a bit perplexed on this.

Asus M2N68-AM motherboard running WS2008R2. Boot / OS drive is an old IDE drive. I've put in two 128GB M4 SATA SSDs and configured them in the BIOS to be in RAID - They are now detected at the BIOS level as a RAID0 stripe at 256GB.

The OS has the nforce RAID controller drivers installed. However, once the OS boots, the RAIDed drive is not seen and the two drives are seen individually.

Does anyone else run the chipset in this configuration successfully? I've installed the RAIDTOOL drivers in windows manually, but it only offers SMART status and nothing to monitor the RAID configuration.

    Thanks

I had a similar problem. The nvida drivers aren't for all chip-sets, even though they should support the 630a.

If I remember rightly, I had to download a different version of the drivers due to the device ID's not being present in the nvidia download.

I will see if I can find them for you but in the mean time I would look for a few different versions (including older versions) of the drivers and try them out.

Re: nforce 630a RAID not working in OS despite installed drivers

I eventually found the cause: I had the Microsoft IDE drivers installed instead of the specific nVidia ones. I thought I had the right ones as the MS ones were working for the HDD, and the nvidia ones didn't want to install as they were "not designed for the hardware", but a forced install worked and now all's OK.

I am glad that worked out ok for you. Sometimes RAID drivers can be a real problem.
