HDDs in RAID array not spinning up when resuming from standby?

I have a RocketRAID card with 5 drives attached. I decided to try and see about puting my machine to sleep as it's unused much of the day.

However I woke up this morning to the RAID card bleeper being very loud because it thought the array had broken, it turns out one of the drives just either had started or hadn't started in time. A reboot showed the array to be fine and all is good.

Is there anyway to resolve this or is it likely that it's the hardware to blame. The PSU is a 450W Corsair jobby, but the system is original Core2Duo old.

Check the BIOS settings on the RAID card to see if there is a HDD power-up delay......if so try increasing it.

Otherwise it's either drivers or a faulty drive.....although I would only suspect the drive once everything else is checked as many drives have had issues waking from s3.

Does that affect resume from standby though? I had the impression POST etc. don't fire in that scenario.

TBH, I am not 100% sure and would have thought that BIOS, EFI, sleep mode etc could all play a part in deciding whether that value is looked at (or recalled) when waking....especially when you consider deep sleeps where everything is effectively turned back on from scratch.

I'll have a play and see what happens. My next job is to find out what decided to cause it to wake from sleep at 3am and stop it

Unfortunately there isn't an option for this. After a search around it appears to be an issue others have experienced. I'll drop an email to HighPoint and see what they say.
