I'm curious, for all of you people out there running with SSD drives, what size do you use?
What do you think is an ideal size for an SSD?
Is bigger always better? or do you consider cost per gigabyte etc...?
At the moment, I'm not. I do have a Crucial M4 though, in the 128GB version.
The ideal size depends on what you want to do with it, what other storage the machine has, whether you have external storage (server, NAS, etc), your overall data requirements, etc.
IMHO, 128GB is fine for the OS and a few major apps, and still leaves plenty of wiggle room for expansion. At a pinch, even 64GB would do, but is probably false economy these days unless funds are REALLY tight.
The value-for-money sweet spot is probably around 256GB-ish these days, BUT .... IMHO, whether it's the best bet depends on your needs. If 256GB is not enough to be your only drive, then I wonder about the value for money of hoing gor 256 over 128, when you need extra HD space as well, anyway.
There is no perfect right/wrong answer to the 'ideal' size, because it depends entirely on your needs and/or other spec.
Recently switched from a 64gb m4 to 240gb m500 as it was a chore to keep free space on the smaller drive. They cost roughly the same at time of purchase.
120Gb for OS, 1Tb for games, 512Gb for VMware stuff.
500gb SSD atm and its not enough due to games. Have to always clean up and remove stuff

256GB Samsung 830 SSD - plenty of room for OS, games and apps. Frankly, if you have more than half a dozen games installed at one time, you're doing it wrong, IMO. I have a 500GB HDD for overflow storage that doesn't require super fast access and a 2TB backup drive in a DAS enclosure.
Various, although mostly 250GB drives.

256GB works fine for me. I rotate the games when I need to, but try to only keep the ones that I'm playing at the time on the PC.
However, I also have a 500GB WD laptop drive to hold things like music. When I build my next PC I'll probably get a 1TB SSD and drop the mechanicals altogether.
I should of mentioned before that I only have the 500gb SSD in my machine which is prob why I consider it 'not enough' as I do have stuff on there that could be on a mech drive.
1TB would be perfect.

I have a 120GB Samsung EVO SSD and a 1TB Samsung F3
4 x 250GB samsung 840 EVO
1 x 60 GB Vertex 3
1 x 60 GB Aglity 3
The smaller drives are ones I've reused for certain games, but were both my boot and application drives for a while.
I do have mechanical drives as well for storage of music, pr0n and stuff I need
