Cloning OS drive question

So I bought a drive to upgraded my boot drive from a 60GB OCZ Agility 3 (for all people knock OCZ, it's a fast drive! Even if it did terrify my by just being in my system, what with there known record for reliability...) to a 256GB Crucial MX100 (Which I got for £70 btw! Bit of a steal!).

My current set up is my OS on the SSD and all my other files are on a mechanical drive.

Is there any scope for a fresh install of windows because if I'm honest, my windows is a bit of a mess. I would imagine that is a big no because of permissions and user accounts. Or am I just stuck to cloning my old drive over to retain access to my mass storage drive?

You have any other type of files over the HDD beside personal files not associated with the system? I mean any of your programs have parts installed over the HDD, or the page file is over the HDD or any files which you couldn't class as off line files?

If your answer is no (you don't have files beside personal over the HDD,no programs or parts are installed over the HDD) feel free to knock on a new fresh installation.

But if your answer is a yes, cloning would be the logical step.

But I doubt you have anything like that and even if you do, can just easily reinstall all your programs onto your new SSD after a fresh windows installation.
