Hi what software would you recommend to test a new drive before I add it to my drive pool in my WHS2011 setup, don't want to add it to find there was an error with it later on ?
Thanks

Any linux live cd and...
badblocks -wsv /dev/<device>
Be careful if running on a live system, you dont want to be wiping your data.
Bad locks was written for floppy disks. The operating system on modern disk drives automatically maps out bad blocks (whether manufacturing defects or go bad in service) and this is transparent to the host system.
If you are concerned, run smart tools against the drive and look at the drive's overall health.
Modern drives are very reliable, the only real risk of damage is during transit to you, and then only if they are really badly packed.

Some drive manufacturers have their own lower level tools that you can use for testing etc.
HDD Scan. SMART monitor plus surface test for validation (both for writing and reading).
