Crucial Storage Executive - Utility for SSDs

I've just come across the Crucial Storage Executive, which is a utility for users of Crucial M500, M550, MX100 & BX100 SSDs. It's a bit like the Samsung Magician utility, in that it allows users to check & update firmware, view S.M.A.R.T info, secure erase an SSD, & perform a PSID revert. It's available in both 64bit & 32bit versions, & best of all, it's free

thanks - I was starting think they didn't have a monitoring tool. my google-fu was sadly lacking.

It must be a fairly new utility - I bought an MX100 SSD in the Black Friday sale before Christmas, & I'm pretty sure it wasn't available then.

    Re: Crucial Storage Executive

yeah, must be fairly new. probably.

just checking on the support page, using the dropdown menus at the top http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/support-ssd doesn't list it on the product pages, just list the firmware (same on US site aswell as UK)

the main overall 'support page' http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support lists it in the SSD section, but unless you knew what it was, why would you click it?
and why would you use the general support page when it filters from the dropdown menu?

it's got a not very intuitive stupid name in my opinion.
sounds like its some sort of 'mission statement' page like "we at crucial promise to deliver outstanding blah de blah in the SSD field and whatnot". who honestly reads those?

just my rant for the day

    Re: Crucial Storage Executive

I tried to use to it to update the firmware on my MX100s, but gave up and flashed via USB stick instead. Not impressed with it to be honest.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive - Utility for SSDs

Contrary to mistamarcus' experience, Crucial Storage Executive performs just fine on my systems, having used it to update two MX100s (256GB and 512GB, respectively) to the newest firmware. The software's lightweight and performs what's expected so I'm satisfied. The only thing I'd like to have is a caching solution akin to Samsung's.

Re: Crucial Storage Executive - Utility for SSDs

I tried FW update on an MX100 256GB via CSE on a laptop and it fails, I will be trying it on a desktop as well (MX100 256GB).

CSE is also installed on another laptop with a BX100 250GB.
