    SSD choice for CAD

    Hi all,

I'd be interested in SSD recommendations for CAD purposes. Only need a single drive of approx 500gb. I'm currently looking at the differences between the sandisk ssd plus vs ultra 2. Is it worth paying for the ultra 2?

They're both the same price as far as I can tell (~£108 from EBuyer) so go with the slightly better binned Ultra II. But otherwise I think the differences are not going to be noticeable.

What sort of disk activity does CAD produce?

    depending on program
    scratch/temp files
    timed auto backups
    normal saves etc

Out of the two options I'd go ultra 2 but personally I'd spend the extra £10 or so on an evo 850...

Thanks for the opinions, I'm a big fan of samsungs myself so I might see if I can wait and catch a decent offer.

Anandtech has a very detailed review of the ultra 2. Ccnt post urls yet so just google it. It seems like a great drive for the price.
