    I am pretty sure it isnt indexing as this is not my OS drive (SSD), and looking at the options shows indexing is not configured for any locations on this drive.

    trust the results, put your feet up and relax (probably the more reasonable choice).
    Unfortunately the issue is at best mildly irritating, at worst unbearable as it will affect games where the audio becomes out of sync/otherwise stutters after an audible noise from the drive.

    chkdsk was run using both flags, will take a look at the event viewer to see if there is anything in there..

    I have a similar think happen, I mainly notice if I pause music and then it pauses for a few seconds as the drive spins up and plays again, it doenst sound like there is an error but am worried in case there is. Don't want to lose a drive backed up, though as some of yous says they are pretty cheap atm, might great my self
