    Samsung magician broke my computer!!!

    Hi all

I have had my Samsung 850 EVO SSD 250gb for a few months now, it works brilliantly. Today I decided that I would explore the software bundled with it, Samsung magician. I used the optimisation function, it prompted me to restart Windows! So I clicked ok, Windows 10 went into restart screen, and now it won't power on! My gigabyte ga-z170x-gaming 7 has an internal power button, with a light, and it is illuminated, ruling out power supply failure!
Therefore, I assume in my computer naivety that the software has tried to change the bios and broken it? Because nothing happens when I press the power button inside, literally nothing no PSU fan or system fan or motherboard debug or CPU fan, I assume that it must be a motherboard problem? I don't even get a power light output from the motherboard for my case!

    Please help me!

afaik it doesn't change anything in the BIOS so this looks like coincidence.

time to troubleshoot it, strip out none essentials, 1 stick of ram, no drives attached, no usb connected etc, flip out the battery and mains then hit start to discharge everything and try again.

Gigabyte you say ? Does it have dual-BIOS switches ?

    Or possibly Atari.

    You legend
Removed the RAM, drive, CMOS bat and the mains, hit the power button, plugged everything back in and now it works! Any ideas what it could've been?
    Thanks so much!

Just a BIOS bug, I wouldn't worry if it is a one off. Check for a newer BIOS though, it may be a fixed.

Go through the Control Panel Power settings with a fine tooth comb, some versions of Magician made a right mess of them. Better to revert to a standard Windows setting and tweak it.

Re: Samsung magician broke my computer!!!

    I've had this issue before..
It seems to ort itself out after a few reboots..

I have of course run this in safe mode to install it to make it stop doing it on my setup.
    Strange though.
