My wifes tablet is good for using while shaving or sitting on the pan.
Keeps the kids amused as well.
I use my blackberry for everything else so no need for one. If you like your S2, the pad will be the same but with a bigger screen.

10" note here, mainly playing vids for my Daughter, or me playing some android games, a bit of surfing and reading if the wife grabs the laptop.

Playbook, and it beats carrying 15 D&D sourcebooks around
for me it's primarily an e-reader, facebook, web browsing/internet radio, and - thanks to docs to go - note taking in work meetings. I occasionally use it for casual gaming too. Plus at 7" it's small and light enough to shove in pretty much any bag I'm carrying, so it can go absolutely everywhere with me, no questions asked - I can't say the same for my 13" laptop (although that's pretty damn portable, to be fair ).
Although I suspect, given this thread was started in July and the OP's wife made their mind up for them, this input will only be useful to people who stumble on this thread via Google
I am really enjoying the note 10.1. Looking forward to the update if I ever get it (not available for 8010 yet). Can control XBMC, my home server and nas box etc from it was well as draw pictures of random stuff like Pacman when pupils are reading in library. Or read a book depending on my mood

I found these devices are good for pretty much everything apart from gaming. Recently been using them to watch catch up TV in bed. The best bit is the always ON feature, press one button and instantly surf or write email... or whatever, so that website on that advert you just seen on TV can be viewed immediately.
I use my Nexus 7 for emails, gaming, lots of reading and internet access on the go (I use my phone as a hub, both android so I guess the data looks the same, never had an issue). Small size means its bloody portable, so I use it for D&D so I can access data whilst not taking up half the table we play on. Also helps pass time in combat waiting for your turn!
Ipas? never heard of those I don't understand why they went the way with the screen that they did. oh well.
Tablets are very versatile, but having owned a few now, recommend buying a branded one with at least android 3.2 & dual core. My xoom states the battery will last eight hours in use, which I believe as its never out of someones hands. My uses are, emails, magazines, books, videos if on a journey, checking photo's from my camera when out, ideal if you can't cook like me and use it for timings/ ingredients when in the kitchen, internet, games and recently used it for sat nav as my garmin's maps are 5 years old. People also use them as a remote control. Only thing that sucks my juice is leaving the wifi on over night etc, so recommend getting the wifi widget as its easier to turn it on/off than going through the settings, also get the wifi analyzer to help configure your router as mine was on band 6 with 4 other homes by me, changed to 8 which increased my wifi speed.
Think of them as a treadmill for your fingers.
Tablets are good for:
- browsing on the Internet
- playing games
- reading
Hey,
Great little entertainment devices, I travel a lot and never leave without it, Films, Music and Books.
I also remote manage my PC and Server from the other side of the world with it Something that'd just wouldn't be possible on my phone
Thanks.
Tablets can be used in place of laptop or mobile. They offer many advantages-
Great e-book reader
Used as a GPS navigation device
ideal when you are in a conference
powerful audio recording
longer battery lifetime
I have an Acer A500. Which when I bought it was high spec. (lol)
Rooted running android 4.2.2
I am currently using it to write this reply :-D
Day to day I use it as my mp3 player. Audio quality is spectacular due to the Dolby Audio drivers, better then any mp3 or iPod I ever owned. I don't take it anywhere where the 10inch screen becomes an issue.
Occasionally I use it to watch TV and play games. I'm not a fan of android games themselves but high powered android tablets can run PS1 games through emulator apps found on the play store. I like to play ps1 games on long car journeys.
When I'm not in the car, the a500 has such a vast number of ports that if you plug in a USB Xbox controller and an HDMI cable it makes a great PS1. :-P
Most Acer tablets since the A500 can fulfill the same functionality. Yeh my phone can do most of these things too but I'll never get a 4 day battery life from my Galaxy S2 and I'd have to squint a bit more.
Edit: I also use it to control my PC when I'm downstairs watching TV.
Surfing why I watch TV.
In my case they are the difference between carrying a bunch of books or the tablet. I also use the calendar for appointments and the simple game or two. Their size makes reading books and magazines enjoyable in a compact size. Airlines now have power outlets so i stopped carrying an extra power unit.
