    Harddisk Warning

    Hello,

Today I encountered my first problem with my N5200B Pro.

The NAS wasn't visible anymore in the LAN so weren't the mapped network folders.

After rebooting it was visible again, is there a reason why this happened?

Anyway I was pretty happy my N5200 was back in the LAN.

After looking in the 'Storage -> Disks' menu I saw a warning on one of the harddisks.

I don't understand why I didn't receive a mail notification about it. It is also not mentioned in the log under 'warning'.

Is it possible to get notified about a harddisk with a warning?

I'm thinking of a RMA for this harddive due to 1 reallocted sector count. Most of the time this presents on a failing harddrive.

One of my new 1TB drives has 3 re-allocated sectors.

    Thinking about an RMA too.

    Hitachi Ultrastar A7K1000 (HUA721010KLA330)

Apparemtly they come with the "industry’s most comprehensive 5-year warranty". So an RMA shouldn't be a problem

    Re: Harddisk Warning

I heard that WD has a 'no hasle return' warranty. I had always been a Seagate person. Last time I need a return, just called their 800 number and they just took my drive back after a couple of questions.

My Hitachi is boxed up and should be collected by the courier tomorrow for RMA.

Got a replacement on order which should arive at the same time. Although Scan don't do cross shipments, they have agreed to refund the original drive so it works out the same anyway.

    Re: Harddisk Warning

Well.... I was planning to go today to the PC shop and swap my harddisk with a new one.

But after looking again in the S.M.A.R.T. info the '2 Reallocated Sectors' are gone.

This means I have no rights for a RMA at the moment, because I cannot prove the harddisk had 2 reallocated sectors.

What is going on with these Hitachi harddrives?

    Best Regards,
    Jordi

    Re: Harddisk Warning

HI, I had the same issue on the following disk model:

    Samsung HD753LJ, F1, 7200rpm, 32MB, 750GB, SATA-II

5 delivered (brand neu), 1 already a warning after 10 minutes (current pending sector). No problem to have it changed. How is SMART monitoring that...I tried this hd in my normal pc with no issues and/or warnings.
