Thecus N5200PRO media server and Sony PS3

I can't get my PS3 to work with the N5200PRO. The PS3 'sees' the media server, but when it tries to connect I get the following error: DLNA Protocol Error (7531). Anyone else seen this? Is there a fix? I was going to order a N2100BM to use as a dedicated media server, but if I can't get it to work with the N5200, I'm guessing it won't work with the N2100 either.

Hi Transco, I've been playing with the N5200PRO and the PS3 the same and I find that the media server on the N5200PRO is not very reliable, it can see pictures and music but doesnt like Divx movies. Disable it and download the Twonky version it works far better. w w w.onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N5200Pro_Module_List

I just wanted to thank you for the reference. Works perfectly! I was considering getting a N2100BM for use as a dedicated media server (the N5200 HDD's are about full with backups). Do you know if the N2100 will work with Twonky and if its fast enough to sustain 10Mb/s streams?

I have no idea pesonally but from what I read the N2100 is not the fastest device so I'm not sure. Can't you upgrade the drives in your N5200 and expand on the RAID that you already have?

I bought on of Eaegis's package deals which came with (5) 750GB drives. In Raid 5 configuration this gives me 3TB of online storage. Yes, in retrospect I should have gone for 1TB drives for 4TB of storage, but that was a lot more money than I wanted to spend.

Actually I'm about ready to give up trying to use the N5200 PRO for a Time Machine drive for my main computer which has 2.25TB of local storage. Five times now, the computer has crashed. Looking at the error logs I can see it's the globalSAN iSCSI Initiator causing the problem. By contrast a MacBook with 200GB storage is working perfectly. It's probably time to reformat the N5200 and increase the data space while reducing the space allocated to iSCSI. It's unfortunate that you have to completely rebuild the Raid structure to do this.
