    N299 - Bad RAID - Bad Disk

    Hi all,

this has probably been answered somewhere else, but my searches turned up nothing that really answers my question:

I have a N299 with 2 500gb Seagate Spinpoint HDDs set to RAID0...this has been up and running for about a week now, all fine and dandy but, last night, my worst fears were realised and the RAID0 array is showing as "BAD"...when checking the dick status, one of the HDDs is showing as "BAD" too.

Does this mean that one of my HDDs is completely faulty, or that this HDD has caused the RAID array to fail (due to a write error or something...)?

If I were to delete the array, would I then be able to rebuild it with the same disks? The disks are brand new, and I'm not convinced that they are failing since they are supposedly ultra-reliable...

    Thanks!

    great...

do HDDs need to be the same model/brand to be compatible in a RAID array?

No, but if they are brand new then go to Your dealer for a replacement.
