    Unhappy N2050 Performance problem

Having just aquired my new N2050 and only having one 750GB Seagate Barracuda, I installed the drive in the enclosure and changed the RAID level to 1 (I am in the process of obtaining a second drive) but thought that with a single drive that this should work fine in simulating a case where one drive in a mirror set was not working and had been removed.

Formatted the drive perfectly windows showing everthing I wanted to see. and then... I tried to copy something to the drive.

I started small with a 40MB file. 20 Seconds!!!! This is via eSATA connected to a ASUS M2N-SLi Deluxe mobo. I thought this cannot be right.

I swithc the Thecus off and change the raid level to 0 switch on and push the init button. Lights come on and everything looks OK. Do the same copy and its improved to 10 seconds!!!!

What is going on? Is the firmware damaged? Has anyone seen this before as I can´t find this behavour anywhere.

    Thanks

    Re: N2050 Performance problem

having tried it with the original card in a different PC I know that the N2050 is not at fault. Must be an issue with the JMicron controller on the mobo.

    Re: N2050 Performance problem

hi, i have something with the performance too............every time the activity button blinks, mouse stops, music stops, everything simply freezes for few milseconds.......it is quite annoying...
Why is this happening? Maybe it is my eSata port which is messing everythin up? Please help!
