    Re: New Firmware for N299

    Hi Yvon,
unfortunately Thecus almost never provides any documents to new firmware. What sense is in waiting for something that probably never will surface? Have a look at the non existing docs for earlier firmware...
BTW: Why don't you provide access to the system itself (telnet e. g.)? Some things Thecus is not willing or not able to do then could be done by users themselves...

    Regards

    Peter

    Yes right Peter,

I´ve installed the 1.0.0.32 and can´t see something new
the only thing is that the fan indicator shows higher turns and the login is gonna be faster.

    regards
    Lars

    Re: New Firmware for N299

I have also installed this new firmware version, now the media server (ushare) is not working anymore, the upnp clients can't see the n299 anymore
I tried to downgrade, but it's not possible. So it looks like, that I have to wait for a newer firmware, where this problem is solved...

    Regards,
    Stefan

    Re: New Firmware for N299

    Hi,
Thecus, Yvon, still anybody out there? I am still waiting for the promised docs, not only for 1.00.32 (which is not named as beta) but for the stable 1.00.26 too! And I am also waiting for the source of 1.00.26 and the later firmware which has to be made public according to the GPL.
As we all know you are reading here, so I am waiting for an answer!

    Regards
    Peter

This happened to me too now!

I upgradet to latest beta (37), and i can't also reach the N299 by UPNP. It's also impossible to downgrade to latest working FW. Did any of you solve this?

    Regards, joacim

    Re: New Firmware for N299

Ok, sad to hear, I will probably do the same.

I told the support (Bertha) they've lost another present and future customer due to the ****ty product and support.

They can't even answer frank questions what differs the firmwares ver 24 and 37 since upnp fails, and also they claim upnp works when troubleshooting my N299 by remote.

Now I've given up. Thanks and bye Thecus!

    Re: New Firmware for N299

    Hi,
after all there is only one solution to the many problems with the N299 and the missing support: Get rid of this piece of not really working hardware and buy something else. I changed to a Synology DS-209j where support is real and everything I need is working. A word of warning though: The media server in the current firmware is not DLNA-compliant but wil be in the next firmware where the beta is already out and being tested.

    Regards

    Peter

    Peter,

I did just like you, a brand new shiny Readynas Duo is on my desk now. Anybody wants a N299 as doorstop?
