N299 FTp Speeds

Hi,

I posed in reply to another thread, but no one replied, so thought I would make my own instead of hijacking.

I have a thecus n299 loaded with 2 x 500gb disks in a jbod config.

I have a home network behind a netgear router - 2 x pc's , a showcenter media player and the nas box.

If i have a server setup as an ftp server and i connect to it from another site (ie work) i can get my full upload speed (70kb). If i disable that ftp server and setup the one on the N299 i only get around 6kb transfer speed. A big difference.

All ports are forwarded as they should be.

What can be causing the problem?
