    Nsync files not deleted

    Hi all,

I'm running two N5200 both on the latest 2.00.10 firmware and I seem to be having trouble with the nsync functionality.

I've have several shared folders which I nsync between the two devices. It all looks to run perfectly and the files are duplicated on both devices ... BUT...

... with everything but the simplest of folders, files deleted from the source device are left on the target. Files are copied/updated but not deleted.

Is this a known bug ? Is there any causes of this I might be able to fix...

    Answers much appeciated...

    Dear Sir,

Nsync only copy file to another sotrage, and won't remove the file from soure, and Nsync is a folder-to-folder level synchronization/backup function brought by Thecus NAS N5200. The backup task could be scheduled periodically or manually start it whenever you want. Basically you will need a target machine to store the backup data. Either another N5200 or a traditional FTP server is okay. For more details, please refer to Nsync quick guide.

    Hi Yvon
    I don't think you've quite understood my issue.. I have two N5200s..

When I delete file B from the source when I syncronise it should delete file B from the target. It works for simple folder structures, but fails when I'm deling with much larger file trees... is this a known bug..? is there anything that might cause it ?

    See diagram in following post...

    Thanks

    Dear Sir,

Sorry misunderstanding you enquire, NSYNC is an incremental backup, system won't remove any data, thus NSYNC target with file A,B,C is corrected.

    Re: Nsync files not deleted

    Really ?

I do get a exact mirror if I run it on a simple set of files....

    ... and I got this from the NSync 4100 / N5200 guide p13...

    http://esupport.thecus.com/support/i...nloaditemid=28

    4. Nsync Troubleshooting
    .
    .
    .
    4-2. Exactly Mirror
Nsync task will create an exactly mirrored backup on Target Server. It means if you deleted
subfolder A on the Source N4100 then executed the task, the backup subfolder A on Target
Server will be deleted too. The same, Nsync task will delete the copied files on Target
Server if the original files are deleted on Source N4100.
It would be really useful to me if an exact mirror option was availible... if not now.. perhaps you could add it to a wish list for a firmware update

    Thanks

    Dear Sir,

In the realy time NSYNC is a mirror backup, which means if user have 100GB files and system woud spent time to move this 100GB files, after get many feeback abut this suggestion, we change the NSYNC to incremental backup, here we would thanks for your feeback about this maunal edition and would reversion in ASAP.

    Re: Nsync files not deleted

    Hi Yvon,
it would be perfect if we could choose to do a incremental update or a mirror via nsync - so decide on each nsync task what should be done - a small additional checkbox in the job setup.

    Peter

PS : it would be nice if such changes are part of the release notes
