I'm finally considering replaceing my ageing 46" Sharp LCDTV with something a bit more modern - as i've been offered £200 for it by a well known pawn shop, and I think thats pretty good considering I got it for £499 5 years ago
Budget is..variable, but I want to keep to around £500-£600 (+ the £200 from my old TV).
This rules out what I really want (A samsung 8000 series), and anyway I would really prefer a passive 3D set after helping my grandad buy an LG42LM620 last weekend - the passive 3D really is just as good as active, but without the eye strain. That sold it to me on the spot
I would look at the LG47LM660 or similar, but the entire LM range is out completely as they all suffer from a 24p bug, which is a big deal imo and enough to avoid them completely. Shame really as you can get that screen for £700 and if you are not fussed by 24p then it's truely an awesome set.
SO, since the LM range appears to be LG's current 2012 set, I have to count them out. I think for Passive 3D I am left with Phillips or Toshiba, but it seems a bit difficult to find much information on these in the UK.
The Toshiba 7200 or 6200 series looks to fit the bill, but I can't find these in the UK..any idea why? Perhaps we have a different model number here.
What I can find is the 47VL963B - but this only appears to be at Currys, and I am not willing to pay their usually inflated prices.
So what other options are worth considering?
