Value Select DDR on Gigabyte K8NS Pro

    Hello,

I have a problem with Corsair memory and my NForce 3 mobo.

Currently, my Pc (Gigabyte K8NS Pro, Athlon 64 3000 sk 754, Radeon 9550, Maxtor Dmax 9 IDE, 512 megs vdata DDR 400 CL3 single sided, XP SP2 fully patched) has only 521 megs of ram.
I bought another stick from vdata (double sided, CL2.5) but the system hang during POST.
I brought back the stick and got a different one, again from vdata (single sided, CL2.5) and the machine booted but frozen just after logging in in XP.

I decided to replace the memory and I purchased 2*512 megs of ValueSelect.
I flipped them in the machine (after removing the vdata module) and the system frozen after logging in in XP.
I rebooted, entered in safe mode and I had no problems.
Reboot in normal mode resulted in freezing XP.
Using only one stick there are no problems.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Mik

You may need to fully clear the CMOS when adding new memory. If that does not work, test each module individually with www.memtest.org (Memtest) and run them for 3-5 passes each.

Just an update: I tried what you suggested with no luck.
Then I installed the new memory on my old rig (Athlon XP 2800, Ecs N2U400) and it worked flawlessy.
I think I will need to reinstall Windows on my new machine and see what happens.

    Thank you.
