    Hello...Uhh...Thanks?

    Hello everyone,

It was suggested I join, so I joined. I guess reading one more forum can't hurt my degree much more can it?

Also, what does anyone say in their first ever post? Hello, my name is Andrew, and I don't like cucumbers or sweetcorn, but am quite fond of strawberries and 1970's cars and music?

I guess I'll shut up and sod off now.

    Andrew.

PS Sorry. This is not a specific apology, but a general apology, feel free to apply it to the first thing I do that annoys you, I didn't mean to, I'm just not that bright.

    Ahh, yes,

I just thought What I should have said in my first post.

I'm Andrew, I'm studying an MSc in software engineering at Bournemouth uni, but really want to plant hedgerows for the rest of my life.

I like hacking up hardware but lack the funds to satisfy most of my cravings, although I did make a nice little 500mhz linux box out of the junk in the bottom of my sock drawer.

I'm highly prejudiced, like many people, to AMD, but only because Acorn went out of business and a RiscOS computer is a bit like buying a new betamax vcr.

I'd like to be an expert at something, but am really only interested in most things. I like building web pages, I'm trying to learn perl, css, and sql all at the same time, and getting nowhere fast.

Ummm, and I really do like 1970's pop-rock, if you don't yet own Slade's greatest hits, you probably have better taste than me.

Right, I've embarrased myself enough, I'm going to hide for a few years.#

    Andrew.

welcome.. css/sql/perl questions are directed to the software development forum.

Where I am most likely to post a reply that is both crap and or pointless.

    welcome..

I'm so proud of you Andy. Coming out like that i mean.

    Slade, my God.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is andy, whom i went to Uni with and Shared a house with for 3 years.

He forgot to mention that not only does he like Slade, he also likes dressing up in fishnets and dancing around to 'fat bottomed girls'. He really does look quite great in makeup.

I think he'll fit right in

welcome to the fold Andy ..

To the best of my knowledge I have never worn fishnets, they were sheer.

Genuine "how the forums work" question:

I realise you can't get an avatar until you're sufficiently well endowed, but how can you change the phrase that appears under your name/nick? I've seen lots of peeps with no avatar, and fewer than 500 posts with it changed, but I can't find it in the options. "Registered user" is a little dull.

    Am I just being slow?

Yea you need like 200 or summint before you can change it to an astoundingly clever witticism.
