    Howdy all

I'll be honest from the outset shall I

I've specced up a new PC (below)

And the option of free delivery is certainly what lured me here. But - by the time I do 20 posts no doubt I'll end up posting regularly.

Did the same on Neogaf and now a regular poster... darn it

    Re: Howdy all

Look solid to me - maybe consider a 2TB HDD?? OFC,remember the GTX780 and R9 290 can be had much cheaper now:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...14&subcat=1341
    http://www.ebuyer.com/614483-msi-r9-...QIgaAk8U8P8HAQ

They both come with games too, which can be sold for £20 to £30. You did miss the deal on the OEM GTX780 with a game for under £200.

Also, perhaps budget for an SSD too??

    Re: Howdy all

Should have added - I'm butchering my laptop for a 250~ GB Samsung Pro SSD

And I'm a bit anal when it comes to disk management.

I only keep installed games I'm actively playing...!
So disk space not too much of an issue....!

    I've seen the cheaper cards
Specced it up etc; but the 970 for the value is just too good to ignore.

    However thanks for the suggestions

    Re: Howdy all

I am not sure the GTX970 is as great value, when you take away the hype machine. That level of performance has been had since early this year anyway and remember most reviews are comparing pre-overclocked GTX970 cards to reference GTX780 and R9 290 cards with worse coolers, and most of the latter ones you can actually buy will be running faster anyway,

Its not massively faster than a R9 290 or GTX780,and yes it consumes less power and has a slightly newer feature set,but the problem so will the 20NM/16NM cards in one years time but with a larger performance bump.

Be careful of reading too much into people on enthusiast forums - they are serial upgraders and most will say their newer toy is 10X better than their older CPU and GPU,and so on. FFS,you have people upgrading from a Core i7 4770K to a Core i7 4790K to just gain 200MHZ to 300MHZ in clockspeed. Websites also rely on ad revenue for launches too,so any biggish launch will have the usual amount of hype too - look at the new iPhone,Galaxy, etc everytime they launch, even if its 5% better. You need to have a healthy dose of scepticism.

Like I said your build is solid, but I am just giving you some more ideas.

Welcome - stick the PC in the 'review my build' forum:
    http://forums.hexus.net/review-my-build/

Then sensible discussion on it will count towards your 20 posts

Regarding PSUs,have you considered this one:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-...TGEaAhIV8P8HAQ
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seasonic-S12...=seasonic+550w

Its not modular but it appears the G series is getting harder and harder to find now(EOL?).
