    Electrical problem, ASTRA 2005 PETROL.

Hi, I'm new to this site, and have joined due to now having a Vauxhall in the family, and trying to solve a problem with it.

My Son bought his car about 6 months ago, fine for a while, then his air con, rear wiper, and rear demister stopped working, plus the dash board lights wouldn't light up, we thought it was a fuse, but no.He put up with it for about a week or so, then all came back?

Then, after another couple of weeks, they just went again, just the same.

We still have the problem, and have taken it to specialist auto electrician, with all the computer gear, but he can't find problem.
His computer gave the message the ECU was not connected? (I think that's what he said anyway!)
The car is drivable, but we need to get this sorted somehow, any helpful tips, pointers, would be most appreciated.

(I noticed an old posting from 2013, from someone who has had a similar problem, with air con and rear wiper, so have asked if it was ever sorted, but they might not now be members)

Would be grateful of any help,
    Thanking you
    Mike7

See if you can locate the earth straps, and check them for corrosion.

Should be one coming off the battery, possibly to the chassis in that general area.

Might also be worth looking for cables that pass through a rubber shield in the tailgate. They could have severed and be causing a short.

Many thanks for a very helpful reply.

I had another, saying I'm on the wrong site, try a Vauxhall forum.

Well it's my mistake if I'm on the wrong site, but I saw a question online much the same as ours, and it was placed on this site, so I followed it up.
I am in my late 70's now and don't really do very well at internet stuff. So I'll look for a Vauxhall site now.

But I am grateful for you taking the time to reply, and will certainly check out the earth, I think that's a very good point!

    Best regards,
    Mike.
