    Nokia lumia 900 worth getting?

I'm pretty fed up with my Sony Ericsson Arc its internal memory full I cant use any new apps it crashes a lot. On 2.3 no sign of update. So thinking of Windows phone as I dont want to go down apple route. So 900 can be had for less than £300 new as far as app goes essential ones like skype few games etc all I really need not a massive apps junkie.

Not bothered with 4g lucky to get 3g where I live! NFC waste of time. So rather than spending a ton on latest tech is it better to go for 900 despite not being full w8?

Right now? No. Not at all. WP7's entire market should be considered dead as of... next Friday when WP8 ships and cannot be installed on old devices. If you want a smartphone with no apps, you don't really want a smartphone.

I didn't say I didn't want any apps I just said not too bothered as long as skype/email/twitter and odd game thats all really.

I'm now looking at nokia N9 MeeGo it is a dead OS but if I can get the phone cheap could be nice. Lots of owners love their N9 shame Nokia CEO killed it in favour of WP 8 I just don't want to pay top dollar for a smartphone that has loads of stuff i don't need or at least don't mind waiting until price drops after initial release.

MeeGo is now being redeveloped by Jolly which is a company full of ex nokia developers.

If you want Skype, then definitely wait till next friday!

Whilst there is a Skype app on WP7.5/7.8 it isn't allowed to run in the background. This changes in 8. In short, even if your heart is set on an 900, it will surely be cheaper in a fortnight, after 8 has launched.

Do you presently have sd card in your Arc?

Would you like the ability to change the battery/ carry spare?

Re: Nokia lumia 900 worth getting?

I do have SD card in the phone but some apps will not move over to SD card. At least not on version 2.3. I'll see how much the 820 is when thats out next week not fused about battery being integrated really. Heart not set on any particular phone as yet but price point is important as i always buy phone outright and unlocked.

Curious to know what the problems are, my only bug bear is I can't run skype in the background. However given my experiance on Andriod when you do you have no battery, I'm more than happy to give WP8 a stab.

I would also say that meego has to be one of the worst things ever.

16Gb Nexus 4 if sticking with Android, although it sounds like space could be an issue or HTC 8X if wanting to go with Win Phone 8.

Or maybe even the 820, apparently it is going to be quite cheap, but still has certain nice things, wireless charging, can use it in gloves etc.

Re: Nokia lumia 900 worth getting?

Hi rob4001, if it's not too late.. the Nokia Lumia 900 has fallen £60 on to £239 on amazon:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nokia-Lumia-...3156159&sr=8-1
It has only fallen in price in the last day or so, so there maybe further cuts in price to come, as more WP8 devices become available.

Still too expensive compared to the 800, which is £135 or something equally cheap, in store at Phones4U.

Re: Nokia lumia 900 worth getting?

I have a Nokia Lumia 900 and really like the phone. I really do not care that it has less apps than iOS or Android. The phone never hangs and that matters. I am also developing a VoIP app for Windows Phone 7 (it will be similar to this one: voip-sip-sdk.com/p_511-windows-phone-platform-voip.html). However, I really would like to get a WP8 device like the Nokia Lumia 920.

Re: Nokia lumia 900 worth getting?

Have the Lumia 900, had absolutely no issues with it since I bought it a few months ago. But if you're looking for a Lumia, I'd recommend you go for the 820 and 920. Better hardware spec and camera.
