Microsoft, Excel developers.. I was wrong...

Ref my previous dislike of the latest version of Excel.

    I was wrong.

Live with it for a month, breathe it and only it for a month.. and the truth reveals itself. The size of the files for starters, especially those with large macro's and pivots.

Microsoft.. I salute you AND appologise!

2010? 2007 is a bit of a dog with big detailed charts..

We should be getting 2010 soon..

    I hope it's better than visio 2010...

2010 seems like a bit of a nothing release to me.

The integration of the "orb" into the main screen was a good idea, but beyond that very little seems to have changed.

I'm sure it has, beneath the hood, and whatever, but I've not noticed anything.

2010 for excel has the Sparklines. Awesome.

But it is a very minor release, I can't see what would force someone to upgrade from 2007, but I can see someone who is upgrading from 2003 jumping to 2010.

well going from the 1997 stylee... the Office 2000 kinda feel.. to the 2007 vibe that I'm (still at nearly 10pm) working with, next to my missus who's doing the same....

it felt horrible to begin with.. but it's far superior to the old one in instant usability and access.

At the beginning of last year I was using OpenOffice to replace Office 2000, on the whole I liked it but as time went on the limitations of calc kept piling on, so I upgraded to Office 2007. For excel alone it is worth it.
